Nerves #13 – Breathing the nerves away

Breathing techniques work on many levels. Firstly, they’re associated with Mindfulness, which we’ve covered earlier. Secondly, by changing the way you breathe you can have a significant effect upon your body’s bio-chemistry. Sometimes even something as simple as making sure you’re breathing out for longer than you’re breathing in is all it takes!

Breathing techniques

There are any number of breathing techniques available. This video takes you through three of the basic ones. (You’ll need to use the password Breathing). Once you’ve got the hang of them you can even consider experimenting with variations and making your own.

Without a doubt these tools work – and what’s more, they’re very simple. There’s no equipment needed and they’re very simple to learn.

Because breathing is (literally!) the first thing we do and the last thing we do in our lives, a lot of people find these tools are instinctive – it takes them very little time to learn them.
